Another treasure found in the Rafferty recordings from Lesl Harker is one labeled "Coming Home from the Bog." She found it in Breandan Breathnach's Ceol Rince Na hEirann Vol: II under this title. This tune was originally played by fiddlers in A as "My Love is Fair and Handsome" (and recorded by that name by Paddy Killoran). Francis O'Neill had already acquired a different tune by that name when he got John McFadden's three-part setting, so he published the latter as "McFadden's Handsome Daughter." This name and setting came from fiddler Paddy Ryan, who must have picked up a flute/pipe setting before he gave it to Breandán Breathnach.

I remember my uncles Thomas and Oliver spending a large part of summer days in the bog cutting and footing turf. My father recalls my grandfather waking him and his siblings up in the morning saying, "Get up you lazy hay dogs! The Scully's are in the bog and ye not out of bed yet!" I'd like to dedicate this track to my uncle Oliver who recently passed away. RIP
